David Ridley

David is a lecturer in the English and Languages department at Coventry University, where he teaches English and Journalism, Pre-sessional English, and Add+Vantage German. David is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Sociology at the University of Birmingham, where he is currently studying for a Ph.D in Sociology. His thesis explores the concept of “public sociology”, the limitations of emancipatory knowledge production within the academy and the idea of sociology as an everyday practice. David’s general research interests include critical pedagogy and the politics and sociology of (higher) education.
